Švedski fotograf, Lenart Nilson proveo je dvanaest godina svog života fotografišući razvoj fetusa u materici. Neverovatne fotografije napravio je uz pomoć konvencionalnog fotoaparata sa makro sočivima, endoskopom i skenirajućim elektronskim mikroskopom.

Eru mikrofotografije Nilson je započeo 50-ih godina prošlog veka, i to snimanjem planktona, a njegova knjiga "Dete je rođeno" (“A child is born”) postala je najprodavanija ilustrovana knjiga na svetu.
